Diag.  Notocactus, pygmaeus, superne e globoso – hemisphaericus inferne longe turbinatus, sordide viridis non v. leniter cinerascens; costis 13 – 21 obtusis parum prominulis, transverse sulcatis et fere in tuberculis solutis; areolis minutis cinereis; aculeis parvis setaceis albidis 6 – 9, omnibus marginalibus adpressis rectis atque retrorsis; floribus ex umbilico apicali enascentibus, pro ratione majusculis, extus dense roseo – v. isabellino – tomentosis, petalis lanceolatis acutis flavis, styli laciniis stigmaticis 6 – 7 crassiusculis ochroleucis.
Hab.  Frequentissimus in montuosis totius ditionis Montevideensis, rarius in collinis Prov. Entre Rios secus Rio Uruguay.

Obs(ervationes).  Simplex v. caespitosus, parte terrae exerta hemisphaerica v. subglobosa (10 – 30 mm diam. = 10 – 20 mm alt.) parte infossa turbinata (10 – 25 mm diam. = 15 – 35 mm long.); discus superus profundiuscule umbilicatus; costae sinu angusto acuto parum profundo separatae, sulco tranverso ± ve impresso; areolae longitudinaliter ellipticae (1,5 – 2 mm long.) spatio brevi 1,5 – 2,5 mm separatae; aculei subhyalini v. sordide albidi, pedes scolopendrarum fere simulantes, retrorsi, supremi breviores (1 – 1,5 mm long.); flores saepius cleistogami, rarius bene evoluti (20 – 25 mm long.); extus inter tomento laxe longiusculeque setulosi, staminum filamentis et stylo albis, antheris et stigmatibus subflavescentibus.
